The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Walker Art Center hold some of the most incredible artworks in the US. The two centers are next to each other, and the ultimate experience is to explore both of them at the same time. The Walker Art Center houses world-class art and media. It was the first art center in Minneapolis, opened in 1927, and was renovated and expanded in 2005.

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden features several iconic works of art. These include the striking Hahn/Cock sculpture by German artist Katharina Fritsch, which was first unveiled in Trafalgar Square, London. Another notable sculpture is the Spoon bridge and Cherry, which was crafted by artist Claes Oldenburgin 1985.

There is a bandstand at the park, which hosts a summer concert every year. The park is calm and quiet throughout the rest of the year, making it a wonderful place for a picnic anytime you want. The stunning State Capitol is an architectural masterpiece by Cass Gilbert, who also designed the US. Supreme Court. One of its most distinctive features is the quadriga – a sculpture of four horses made from copper and a gold leaf finish – prominently displayed above the main entrance.

You can go for a 45-minute guided tour inside the building, and marvel at magnificent details like the world’s second-largest marble dome, restored 1905 murals and paintings, the venerable legislative chambers, and more. To complete the experience, eat at Rathskeller Café, a cozy and historic coffee shop found at the basement.
